Secret Shortcuts

Ever hear of a local lane? Well, here’s a few local secret shortcuts for you:

Shortcut #1: If you are traveling from the North Myrtle Beach area, avoid 17 Business (Kings Highway) by taking SC 31 (Carolina Bays Parkway) which is a freeway that will take you directly to Highway 544 (Dick Pond Road). But please don’t tell the locals we told you about SC 31; they want to keep it as their little secret.

Shortcut #2: Highway 544 (Dick Pond Road), during the summer months and particularly on weekends, can get so busy that it sometimes looks like a parking lot. The final mile from 17 Bypass (near Wal-Mart) to where Highway 544 ends into 17 Business (Kings Highway) is especially troublesome.

So, as you approach 17 Bypass and you see rows of taillights, take a right (South) onto 17 Bypass, and drive approximately 2.4 miles to Glenns Bay Road. Take a left heading East onto Glenns Bay Road and travel approximately 1.5 miles to 17 Business. Take a left heading North onto 17 Business and in about 1.5 miles, you will see our large blue marquee sign on your left.

Please Note: You can only access the Front Desk via 17 Business from Platt Blvd. (Take a left at the street light onto Platt.) DO NOT use the Frontage Road. There is a locked gate that blocks access to the front desk from the Frontage Road. Click here for directions to the Front Desk from 17 Business.

You have now driven “around the block” and avoided the worst of the stop-and-go traffic on Highway 544. Even though this “shortcut” adds a few miles to your trip, it will save you minutes and get you here faster.

Tips: Finding Your Way Around Grand Palms Resort

We all know that you are the best driver in the family and probably don’t need any directions; however, we’ve got a few general tips to share with you that you may not even know about!

Tip #1: Take the Shuttle. Of course, everyone loves the beach! Avoid having to find and pay for a parking spot by taking the Resort’s complimentary shuttle bus to and from the beach. Save those parking meter coins for ice cream or maybe a smoothie! But most of all, enjoy your vacation without all the traffic! See our Welcome Magazine for shuttle schedule times and locations.

Tip #2: Visit the Preview Center for tours. Many guests stop by our Front Desk Office to check in for their scheduled tour provided by Wyndham. We are happy to greet you, however, you will want to check in at the Preview Center for your tour located behind the Front Office Building (see the map below).
