One of the most important decisions people make about a vacation is when to go. We all want the best weather, best activities, and the least amount of crowds. When thinking about Myrtle Beach, most people choose Summer as the time to come. BUT now is what the locals say is the best beach season or as we like to call it "Secret Summer."

Why? Let us show you all the reasons you’ll want to sneak away to Myrtle Beach to bask in our secret summer season (also known as "Fall" to everyone else):

The Weather:

Now if you have ever taken a glance at the weather for Myrtle Beach during September and October, you’ll see that it is a snowbird’s dream! The days are still hot and humid with average highs anywhere from 83 to 91°F, and average night lows are a comfortable 70°F. This weather is the PERFECT summer beach environment. Not too hot but warm enough to take a swim. So, make sure to pack your swimsuits, because not only do we have two amazing pools you can enjoy, but the ocean water is still warm enough to swim in! To see our tips for packing for a beach vacation, read our blog, Top Travel Tips: How to Pack for a Beach Vacation.

Activities:

Here in Myrtle Beach we’ve traded the Fall foliage with palmettos, and if you’re homesick for fall’s fruit, there’s a cornucopia of farmers markets, farms and patches selling pumpkins, gourds, hay bales and more to suit your fancy. Not to mention the activities we put on at Grand Palms Resort like Palms Paint Night, kids crafts, and La Belle Amie Wine Tours.

The wonderful weather of Secret Summer means lots of outdoor activities are still thriving as well as some of the indoor ones! Some of my favorites are visiting Brookgreen Gardens, golfing, kayaking, visiting the beach, and enjoying some of the amazing restaurants at the Market Common.

Fewer Crowds:

As the more than 17 million tourists that visit Myrtle Beach during the summer months head back home for the school year, it leaves behind a heavenly haven of peace and plenty of room to roam. That means fewer traffic jams on the roads, fewer people at the beach and fewer lines at your favorite restaurants, golf courses, and shops – and that means less stress overall.

Not only do you spend less time in lines, but the entertainers are still out and about. By the time it hits Secret Summer here in Myrtle, Entertainers have had all summer long to perfect their art and you get to see some of their best performances at a lower price, with fall specials and discounts. Be sure to stop by our concierge at the Front Desk for all information including special guest discounts on the packages and perks available in town.

The Fall (Secret Summer) Festivals:
