What happens when you take a last minute vacation over Halloween weekend and you forget your costume? Or you didn’t feel like celebrating until you found out about all the exciting Halloween events happening in Myrtle Beach? Don’t worry we’re here to help. Here are some of our favorite last minute Halloween costume suggestions that are almost if not entirely free. Some costumes can even be made from items found in your condo at Grand Palms Resort. Please just be sure to return them when you’re done. 🙂
To make it even simpler, we’ve ranked our costume ideas from easiest to hardest to do. We hope you enjoy our list:
Mummy (easy)
This is a classic! Take toilet paper (yes, you may want to call Housekeeping now to request more) and wrap away. Add sunglasses and you are sure to impress. No glasses? Use an eyeliner pencil to blacken your eyes and make stitching marks around your mouth. Add a top hat to look more debonair but a baseball cap (can be purchased at the front desk) will do. We suggest wearing a white t-shirt underneath and sweatpants if you have them but really anything will do and will be hidden with enough wrapping.
Ice Cream with a Cherry on Top (easy)
For this costume, you’ll need a plain, white shirt, colored paper, tape, a red balloon, and a headband. From the paper, cut out sprinkles and a cherry stem. Attach the stem to the blown-up balloon. Then, attach the new cherry to your headband. Grab the paper sprinkles and tape those to your shirt. Tada! Yummiest desert costume!
Zombie (easy)
If you have some clothes you don’t mind ruining, you’ve got a zombie costume. All you have to do is add some water and rub them in the dirt a little. Now, do them same to yourself and smear on some fake blood to complete the look. If you don’t have fake blood available, lipstick does the trick. Just be prepared for some scrubbing to remove it all post Halloween.
Tourist (easy)
Dressing up as a tourist might be the easiest costume of them all especially since you are already on vacation. All you need is some comfortable clothes preferably wildly colored, a tropical print or both. Then add a camera, a bucket hat and some white sneakers with colored socks. Boom, you’re a world traveler!
Superman and Lois Lane (medium)
The Superman costume calls for a business outfit, glasses if possible, and the shirt. Don’t have a Superman shirt? No biggy. Print out or draw the Superman symbol and tape it to your undershirt.
Create the Lois Lane costume with a business outfit and badge (easily made by writing and cutting out).
Fairy (medium)
Wear any dress you have, pair with a set of wings and you have become a fairy! To top it off, attach some white pom-poms to your shoes and throw your hair up in a bun.
Pineapple (medium)
If you’ve followed our blog, you know how much we love pineapples. So we couldn’t pass up telling you about this fun costume. Take your marker and draw arrow marks on your yellow shirt. Cut the leaf top from green paper and attach it to a head band. You’re now ready for some fruity fun!
Ghost (medium)
Speaking of sheets, if you want to make the classic ghost costume, please call Housekeeping. They may have an older sheet they can give you to cut eye holes into instead of having to purchase the one on your bed after you’ve cut it up.
Bunch of Grapes (Medium)
You will need anywhere from 30-50 purple or green balloons, depending on the kid’s size, safety pins, and double-sided tape. You pin the balloons to whatever your kid is wearing, and then stick the balloons together with the double-sided tape, so they don’t flail around in the October wind.
M&M (medium)
On a blank white sheet of paper, cut out an ‘M’ and stick it on to any of your colorful oversized Tee-shirts. If you are attending an event in a group, then this is a brilliant idea for you and your family.
Crazy Cat Lady (hard)
With a bathrobe and slippers, you have the perfect start for a Crazy Cat Lady Costume! Attach some stuffed cats to the robe using safety pins, put rollers in your hair, and throw on a pair of glasses to top off the look.
Deer (hard)
Breakout your make up kits for this one! Using everyday make up you can reach this deer look. Mineral fusion has a great tutorial to help with this!
Tigger, Pooh, or Piglet (hard)
Now one of my favorite last minute costumes that I have done has been this Tigger, Pooh, and Piglet trio. This costume requires a quick run to the store but isn't too bad after. You will need a t-shirt (in the coordinating color), some paint, felt, and glue. You will cut out the distinguishing character feature (Tigger's belly and stripes) and paint on the other feature (Piglets stripes and Pooh's name) onto the t-shirts for the costume.
